Sweeteners

Sweeteners play a determining role in improving the palatability and acceptance of the feed. Taste perception is always an interplay between taste and smell, so we recommend the combination wth Greenflavour. Flavours will increase and extend the perception of the animal if accompanied with a sweet taste. This combination increases the feed intake, especially with unpalatable feed ingredients.

For use in animal feed there are three registered sweeteners: Neohesperidine dihydrochalcone (NHDC), Saccharin and sweeteners based on natural plant extracts, such as Stevia and Thaumitin.

SUGAREX®

SUGAREX® is a combination of saccharin and NHDC. Saccharin gives a quick sweet experience in the mouth of the animal, but has a "metallic" aftertaste. NHDC takes away this "metallic" aftertaste and provides a long sweet aftertaste, therefore the feed intake will be higher and more constant.

SUGAREX® is registered for piglets (up to 4 months).

Sweeteners, such as Stevia and Thaumatin have a wider registration, but are less water-soluble. For calves we therefore have SWEETMIX.

The sweetener SWEETMIX is permitted for all species and is highly water-soluble. This sweetener masks bitter fractions and provides a pleasant taste. SWEETMIX is a composition of registered sensory components.
